I first noticed Lan Ong Restaurant while on a Jeep Tour and jotted down the name. Later, I looked it up, read all the rave reviews, and decided we had to try it for dinner.It turned out to be the best meal we’ve had in Hanoi. The food was fantastic! We shared the signature sea duck breast wrapped in Vietnamese popiah, young ambarella salad with green sticky rice patties (cha com), and grilled pork ribs with five-spice.The jicama in the salad, together with the cha com, was noteworthy, but the star of the show was definitely the pork ribs — perfectly seasoned and cooked, succulent and incredibly flavourful.We enjoyed the meal so much that we decided to come back for dinner on our last night in Hanoi.On our second visit, one of the waiters actually asked if I had been there just a few days earlier (!!!). We were seated upstairs this time. We had been very lucky to get a table on both occasions, as the restaurant fills up quickly.The restaurant itself is very tastefully decorated, with beautiful lighting that creates a lovely atmosphere. Staff are warm and friendly.This time, we ordered the grilled catfish “cha ca” style (another Hanoi dish unlocked!) and, of course, the grilled pork ribs with five-spice, because we had enjoyed them so much the first time. Neither disappointed!!In a city so full of eateries, I would still make a point of returning to Lan Ong Restaurant the next time we’re in Hanoi.

It seems to be a restaurant that caters specifically to foreigners, and the food is geared towards them, with many fusion dishes. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly delicious either.

After walking through the chaotic night market nearby, we decided to find somewhere to eat. By chance we found this place. We were lucky enough to find a table. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was I thought, elevated traditional Vietnamese cuisine. It was made with care and very good quality ingredients. The staff were all amazingly friendly. We really enjoyed our dinner there and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for upscale dining experience.

Came for an early dinner with my wife. What an amazing culinary treat it turned out to be.Deep Fried Crabmeat spring rolls were an excellent starter along with Chargrilled pork with Sugarcane. Our mains were the Bottle gourd soup with shrimp meatballs and just about the best ever Grilled Pork Ribs with 5 spices. I know my way around a set of ribs but these were sublime tonight. All that was left was a set of clean bones and a very happy diner. Our host, Giang was spot on with her recommendations and looked after us like royalty. We loved this place.
